Enough of the tech already ... I'm not a complete workaholic, and there are other things that float my boat (smile) Unsurprisingly enough, I'm not really called brothercake — my name is James Edwards, and I live in a tiny town called Oswestry, near the Shropshire / North Wales border. That's me in the photos over there (if you can see them).

A proud Britpack member. Another great passion of mine is music, and indeed there was a time when I planned it as my career. Suffice it to say, it didn't work out like that, but I present for your enjoyment a selection of British underground dance music — tunes I've written or co-written over the years. I also enjoy cooking, going to outdoor festivals, and just generally being outside, and these interests converge in my Festival Cookery Guide — how to cook tasty and nutritious food over an open fire.

If you're interested in the history and makings of this website, there's a section called about brothercake.com that will give you the low-down.

And that's about as much of myself as I'm prepared to put online (eek!)

Latest travels — 17th Jan 2009

This week I returned to the UK, after two years in Australia. I've come back for personal reasons, to be closer to my family for a while. I'll probably be here for the rest of this year, perhaps a little longer. After that, I plan to return to Melbourne, where my home and my heart is.

A big part of me didn't want to come back, but there are compelling personal reasons why I needed to. Despite how it may sound this has been a positive move, and when I do finally return I'll be a stronger, healthier and happier man (thumbs up)

Sitting on a coach and gazing out of the window, looking like I'm pondering something (probably a woman)

Rocking-out to Iron Maiden live, wearing a tour t-shirt, and with a big happy pout on my face
