Browser support

The script has been tested and confirmed to work in all these browsers and platforms. It will also function in third-party browsers, such as K-Meleon (a gecko browser for Windows), Chimera (a gecko browser for OS X), Galeon (a gecko browser for Linux Gnome) and NeoPlanet (IE for Windows); not to mention the dreaded AOL ...
Three of the browsers in that chart have paler checkboxes - these are supported, but with potential issues:
The gaps in the chart are where that particular browser/OS combination doesn't exist.
Other browsers are excluded and should display nothing, but generate no script errors either. These are browsers for which full, stable support is impossible; there are undoubtedly others, but I've tested and specifically excluded (where necessary) - Netscape 2, Netscape 3, Internet Explorer 3, Opera 3, Opera 4, iCab 2.9, HotJava 3, Espial Escape 4.85, WebTV 2.6.1 and OmniWeb 4.1.1.
For the benefit of unsupported and non-javascript browsers, there's a number of techniques for integrating the menus with a static navigation bar. A good place to start is the tutorial Making an image-based navbar, which is written with images in mind, but equally applies to simple text navigation.
Windows tests were on WinXP (home), Win2K (pro), Win98 (sp2) and Win95 (osr2); Macintosh tests were on MacOS 9.1 and MacOS X (10.2); Linux (x86) tests were on Mandrake 8.1 (KDE2.2 and Gnome), RedHat 8.0 (KDE3.0.3 and Gnome) and Debian. I personally test every new version in each supported browser. If you run any unconfirmed or unlisted browser/platform combinations, please be kind enough to let me know if it works, via the feedback form.
